He had his Grand Jury date last week and was indicted on 31 counts. He was also released on high bail. And if I read correctly, rejailed in another county. There will be a sit-down to discuss possible plea bargaining and any other deal he can make for himself. Thus, avoiding a trial. It will be interesting to see what develops from this point on. Still, a horrible and sad situation. But he's a grown man and made his choices even if others "supposedly" pushed him along. At this point, in my opinion, whatever happens, happens. Bluepride, I agree with everything you say. But in addition to that, I do have a feeling that when they srart talking about any deals, the prosecutor is going to want to know exactly who it was that "pushed him along". This drama may get even m more dramatic in the weeks to come.

I wrestled with whether or not this should be posted here, and finally decided that knowledge is power. We all need to know this is going on because we have to prepare for the onslaught of innuendos and accusations that will fly; especially after the earlier events posted... and NO OTHER GROUP SEEMS TO BE ANSWERING THIS IN NYC... This should make for a very interesting Pride Month for all of us in Law Enforcement. I, for one, make a point of discussing this as much as possible at work, emphasizing that these are ALLEGATIONS. I also throw in that, if true, none of this activity is condoned, and these individuals do NOT represent us! I love the line about being religious... maybe all Catholics should be considered suspect...POLICE CAPTAIN GRILLEDBy JOHN DOYLE, LARRY CELONA and DAN MANGAN May 28, 2008 -- An NYPD captain allegedly sexually exposed himself to a young man at a Queens subway station yesterday while on duty, and was taken into custody after the victim alerted a cop, police sources said. Transit Bureau Capt. Jeffrey Klimas, 51, was charged with two counts of public lewdness last night, given a desk-appearance ticket, and suspended. Multiple police sources said the married father of two had long been suspected of trolling for encounters in the subway system, despite being executive officer of the Transit Bureau's Special Operations District. www.nypost.com/seven/05282008/news/regionalnews/police_captain_grilled_112833.htm

The Jamie Katz horror story continues. Most of us may not be aware of this, but the Jamie Katz story has gone nationwide. I have already received several reports from friends around the country that say that they have read the story in local papers. Today, I got an e-mail from a friend who said that he read about it. It was in the newspaper in St. Louis. Who knows, we might start hearing about this in newspapers coutside of the USA.
Last week, I got a call from Carl Locke. He's Vice President of GOAL New York. He told me that they had not issued a statement on the case but were in contact with their lawyer to see what they could do. He said that they would be sending out a "letter to the editor" (of the New York Post) explaining their position on the issue. Well, It's a week later and that letter still has not gone out. What can I tell you!!!

I don't know this Klimas guy but apparently he had a reputation for trolling tea rooms and it was known by his co-workers. The cajones on him! A Captain, on duty, allegedly exposing himself in a subway bathroom. Again, we're the ones who will have to answer to the ignoramus straight cops who assume that we all know each other and that what this guy "allegedly " did is the norm for all of us. I'm so tired of all this nonsense. And as far as the letter to the editor by GOAL.....isn't it too little, too late? The Katz situation should've been addressed by them within the first 24 hours of his arrest and the news reports. All it does now is open the wound again. Incompetence at it's worst.

I don't know how to copy and paste with the little box, so this will have to do !!!
why would GOAL have to get in touch with their lawyer ??!?!?! to see what "they" could do ... lawyer advice for what ... a simple statement "innocent until proven guilty blah blah blah. 1 person's actions are NOT to be confused with others who are law abiding, good citizens !!!! And what's with the New York Post ... why even bother sending them a letter !!!!!!!!! Unfreaking real !!!!! Part of me would just love to attend parts of the trial (if there is one) ... just to see the look on Jaime's face !!!!!
later gators !!

Hey LEVON. Great to hear from you. Where have you been hiding? We've missed you. Yesterday GOAL sent me a copy of the letter to the editor. They sent it to the Post and the Daily News. You and Bluepride are quite right. It is too little too late. But I guess It's better than nothing. I'm not sure if there's going to be a trial or if he's going to plead out. But I will tell you this. If he pleads out to this disgrace, he should rot in hell.

Yeah, some think we all do this, but as for the statement "we know each other," does that mean the references in the Post story that;
"Multiple police sources said the married father of two had long been suspected of trolling for encounters in the subway system, despite being executive officer of the Transit Bureau's Special Operations District.
A police source called the 25-year veteran "eccentric" and "like a Jim McGreevey" - referring to the gay former New Jersey governor's penchant for searching for sex with men at highway rest stops while still closeted. "
And
" 'He did it again,' said another high-ranking police source, who was aware of another incident in which Klimas was caught allegedly soliciting a man in 2003 but escaped without charges. In that incident, a teen claimed Klimas fondled him on a No. 4 train. The youth ran off the train at Borough Hall and pointed out the captain. But an investigation determined the claim was unfounded, saying the accuser was emotionally disturbed, sources said. "
Mean all those trasit guys are family too?
Yeah, I doubt that. What it does say though, is that there's something wrong here when a guy with that sort of rep apparently isn't dealt with in any way. If he had such a rep, where was the department and the transit bureau; did anyone at least try to get the guy help before he finally got shot down in flames?
It's sad that department in most localities would rather stick their collective heads up their ass than deal with real personel issues in a way that might actually help an individual member.

Does anybody have any more news about what's going on with the Jamie Katz drama?

Last I heard, nothing is going to happen until July. I imagine that means any sit-down for a plea deal. Other than that, no more news that I've heard.

Well, the other shoe has finally dropped with this incident. Right now I don't feel like going into details because I'm disgusted. Maybe tomorrow.
