Not to mention the classy looking sox and foot wear Gomer there in the fron of the picture is sporting. White sox always looked better on Dick Tracy in the comic strips than they ever did on real cops in uniform.

Yeah, the white socks are pretty funny. And as far as the grabbing himself, maybe he had fleas!

You're right. He probably did have fleas. From the look of him, he must have got them from his daughter, after she got them from his brother, after he got them from his mother!!!! Crotch to crotch action can be bad for you health!!!! Did you guys notice the cop in the background of the photo? He's standing there giving us the finger. I must say, I have never seen such stunning professionalism!!!!!!!

Last night, on the Tampa evening news, they showed a high speed chase in Los Angeles. The perp jumps out of the car and runs into someones backyard. He sees the cops closing in and lays down on the ground, face down and arms spread out. He stayed there motionless. A cop runs up to him and kicks him in the head, then he high fives another officer. This was taped by a newsman in a helicopter. Chief William Bratton is investigating this and will probably seek to terminate the cop. I'd like to give a high five to that!! There is no excuse for kicking a prone, motionelss, unarmed man in the head. I don't care what he did.

I'll second that, Prydeguys. It's a**holes like that guy who put a stink on other 99.9% who do their job honorably and professionally. I hope Bratton takes decisive action...and quickly.

Sarasota Chief of Police Peter Abbott, formally of the NYPD, has been placed on administrative leave and will probably be fired. A few weeks ago, one of his officers drop kicked a prisoner, who was drunk and handcuffed, as he was getting out of a cruiser. When the inmate, who did not speak english, fell to the ground, the cop kicked him again and then put his foot in his chest as he lay there. This incident was recorded on a camera mounted in the sallyport of the jail. Chief Abbott was not there when it happened, but when the tape first came to his attention, he asked one of his cops to offer the prisoner $400.00 not to file suit against the department. Later, when the tape became public knowledge, he made an apology saying that he had made a bad decision. He will remain on leave while a full investigation takes place. The city fathers are furious about this and will probably fire him. This is a shame because Abbott is really a nice guy. He has worked hard trying to improve the immage of the police in this community. What he should have done, upon learning of this assault, on a non english speaking, handcuffed prisoner, was to fire the officer. He should have thrown that idiot right under the bus instead of trying to protect him and the image of the department. I'll keep you guys posted.

not much has changed in Florida; not much at all.

I don't know Abbott personally but I've heard of him and I used to work with his brother....(that's another story... ) Even though this story is about Peter Abbott, I think Peter got the better brain cells in spite of this new story. You have to wonder, what was he thinking? He had a good career in New York and from what I've heard, a good one in Florida as well, until now. I keep remembering something one of my old commanding officers told me and other supervisors a long time ago. There's nothing wrong with trying to take the noose from around a cop's neck if you can. Just don't take it from around his neck and put it around your own. It looks like this is what may have happened here.

If the perp who shot Corporal Roberts was once a Police Officer. that sure does not say much for the hiring policies of the Virgin Islands Police Department. Somehow I've got the feeling that they don't have low standards - they have no standards.

You folks are going to DIE when you read this!!!!!!! Last night, here in Venice Florida, two masked men held up a TJMAX store. The robbery went bad, and they ended up holding seveal people hostage. The Venice Police Department called for additional officers from surrounding counties. Lots of cops responded from the Sarasota, Bradenton, North Port, and the Port Charlotte Police Departments. Cops were all over the place, They brought up air support as well as a large Swat Team. The seige went on for hours. Then, they said that they would let the hostages go. The hostages came out of the store running in all directions. When the police decided that all of the hostages were safe, they sent in the Swat Team, armed to the teeth, to get the bad guys. That's when they realized at nobody was left in the store. The robbers had simply taken off their masks and walked out the front door in the confusion.!!!!! How they got away with this is anybody's guess. Anyway, today the Venice Police have egg of their faces. They have launched a major investigation and the finger pointing is hysterical.

After a legnthy investigation, by the Hillsborough Seriffs Department, Chief Peter Abbott will keep his job. The officer that kicked the handcuffed man has been fired. Chief Abbott will receive a two week suspension without pay. The chief really made a stupid mistake but his outstanding record, with the Sarasota Police Department weighed in his favor. Personally, I like him and I think it was a good decision.

Do you know more about this than was in the article? Because there surely is not enough info in the article to convict Nash. The article makes it sound as if the best evidence the PD has against Nash is that they can prove he was in the area where the hooker said that Nash picked them up at the time it supposedly happened. If the hooker knows who he is they could say that where they saw him was where the incident started. I mean I'm sure that criminals have never tried to lie to get a cop in trouble..... The fact is that WE don't know enough of the facts here to make an accurate judgement yet. I would love to hear more about the details here. The lineup means absolutely nothing unless it can be proven that the hooker has never seen him before. If San Antonio is anything like here, the cops know the vast majority of the hookers and the hookers know that cops that are in their area. Now there may be evidence that has not been released that shows guilt, but until we know that you might be ripping apart an innocent man. My gut says the cop is guilty of something here probably, what that is I don't know. He could have been doing a shake down and the hooker tried to turn the tables? This could be so many things. The one thing I will say is IF he really raped the hooker, then he needs everything bad done to him that can legally be done to him.
