Thanks for mentioning this site on ThePrideBehindTheBadge on yahoo. I'm in training for Reserve Police Officer and wanted a way to get advice and communicate with other out gay officers. Looks like a great site for that.

Welcome to the fold Jamey. Good luck with your trianing. I'm a reserve in DC, been on for nearly five years. DC can be a tough place to police in, but I wouldn't trade the experience for anything.

Welcome Mark, Im a corrections officer in Tennessee. I've been to Naples a few times, passing through to Miami or the Keys. Nice area, lots of sunshine.

Hello everyone!
My name is Michael Solarez and am a former police officer for the city of Monrovia(CA)... "former" not by choice. I have to thank Jim for turning me on to this web site... thank you!
I have toyed around with doing a web site myself and after being terminated started PrideBehindTheBadge.com... needless to say well getting so busy with attorneys, lawsuits, depositions, reporters, friends, family, and the never ending need to work on the House to keep me busy as well... I have let the web site run out of steam. You guys on here have energized me to get back and working on the web site... thanks!
I started the web site because right after I lost my job I was told I could no longer be part of the Golden State Police Officers Association, because I was no longer a police officer. This devastated me, and started me on the path to get an association that is not a formal association/organization(basically friends helping friends). So, I've put together the web site where there are no membership dues and no rules of exclusion.
I do have hope with the new organization/leadership of The Golden State Peace Officers Association. But it seems that there are so many gay police officers associations in Southern California (guns and hoses, protect and defend, LA legal, Golden State peace officers Association... am I missing one?)because of too many personality conflicts and he goes that I still want something that is very informal.
I must say I have to thank the guys from ProtectAndDefend.org and Guns&Hoses who have continually showed on waving support.
I must also think you guys for having a support in place for police officers online.....this appears to be a great online community... continue the great work!
