For a while I've been noticing that when I've approved some new members, they neglect to introduce themselves and in fact don't participate at all in the site. Also, I've rejected more new applicants than I would've liked to. When someone applies for membership here I try to vet them as much as I can before approval. In some cases it has been extremely fruitless (ie: unable to find any LEO experience or connection whatsoever, etc.) and I have rejected them. Then again, I've approved some because I took the chance that they qualified and in a lot of cases, have shown themselves to be great members here. And then there have been spammers who have tried to join. I try my best to weed out those who do not belong.
In order to make my "job" easier and also to look out for our membership and our site, I'm going to make a statement about potential new members here:
If I can't find any connection relative to qualification to be a part of this site, I will reject applicants unless they can show that they qualify. And if I approve a membership, the new member will have to make an introduction and take part in the site. Failure to do so will most probably mean deletion of membership, banning and blocking. If a potential member applies and is rejected, they have an option to e-mail me at bluecoat495@yahoo.com and let me know why they think they shouldn't be rejected.
I'd like to have thousands of members but quality, not quantity is more important. Every now and then I go through the membership list and delete some who are obviously not here for any other reason except maybe to "lurk". We have members who come and go as far as participation is concerned and for the most part, they won't be affected. But if someone joins and absolutely does not do anything, well...don't expect to hang around for any length of time.
