*****Just so you know.......this conference doesn't have anything to do with the Legal International Conference that is supposedly going to be held in Holland this year. The folks in Canada have decided to hold a conference as well. It's a lot closer than Europe!.....FYI......*****

Well I wasn't intending to go to World Pride, but. The other consideration is I am part of this group and I have heard nothing - I don't think I know how to log in anymore. In the last couple of weeks I have worked with PD's in the area. Their one issue - finding someone in my line of work.

***** Um, I believe the LEGAL International Conference in Amsterdam is in 2015 (not this year.)

Hi guys Sorry I have not posted in a while. I've been busy setting up video appointments on my personal counseling website. Legal international has not received any information on the Amsterdam conference as yet. They are still in the very early stages of planning but as soon as info is available we will put it on the Legal International website. But, this will be after it's posted here on Blue pride. Blue pride always posts conference info before anyone else. The Toronto event is NOT being presented by an LGBT criminal justice group. it's being presented by the Toronto Police Department. As a result, it will feature workshops and events for gay and straight police personnel. There will only be one workshop for LGBT correction, and none for probation or parole personnel. All of their speakers will come from the Toronto police department. The Toronto police department will not be hosting events in gay venues and they cannot provide security for personnel who are not out. This is a police event and that is why Legal International has not, and will not, endorse it. The Amsterdam group has already reached out to us for a formal written endorsement and we have provided it. It has already been accepted by the Amsterdam Police commissioner and his agency will provide financial support as the conference comes together. Legal International will NOT be involved in the planning of the conference or in the selection of the hotel, workshops, and seminars. The Amsterdam group will be responsible for that as well as arranging for the social events. All Legal International conferences are put together by local chapters and not by police departments. This will be the Seventeenth Annual international Conference of LGBT Criminal Justice Professionals. Not just police officers. In the months to come, as more information is sent to us, we will keep Blue Pride in the loop. I have retired from planning these conferences but I will always support and attend them. The Amsterdam group is putting this together, not myself or Legal International. Amsterdam has a wonderful group and I know that they will do a fine job.

Hi Charles, Not sure Carroll saw your post above of a few days ago. I don't want to step on his toes but my understanding is... The LEGAL International Annual Conference scheduled for Las Vegas in 2013 was cancelled. ... and the LEGAL Conference scheduled for Toronto in 2014 has been cancelled. However, please see the previous post in this thread about the "Toronto Police Service LGBT Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice Conference" scheduled for June 24-27, 2014. The LEGAL Conference scheduled for Amsterdam in 2015 is still on as far as I've heard. I recall the folks in Amsterdam are an active bunch who actually participate in organization and presentation for representing our community. I do hope so. Maybe Carroll will see this post and confirm or correct the info. Do stop by the BluePride break room. We have a fresh cookie waiting for you!! Happy Paw Waves, Bear ___________________________.

Hi Charles and Bear. The Toronto Police Service event is still on schedule for June, but I don't know anyone who is going. The next Legal International Conference is on track for 2016 in Amsterdam. I had heard that it was going to be in 2015 but the Amsterdam group told me it was going to be in 2016. They have already started preliminary plans. I'll keep Bluepride posted as I learn more. Again, let me say that Legal International is not putting this conference together, the Amsterdam group is. I will be available to assist and advise them if they need my help, but I don't think they will. They are a dedicated, focused group of professionals and I know they will do a fine job.
