Even though is board is national and international and I try to not make it New York-centric.....I have to let people know about this. A New York City goverment website has made photos from approximately 100 years ago and up until recently, available for the public to see. The photos include crime scenes, scenes of NYC as their bridges were being built, street scenes, sports scenes and other photos of historical interest. Now....I haven't been able to get onto the site myself because it has been so busy over the last few days. But I found a British newspaper site that shows some of the photos. Just a small sampling but they make you want to see all of the over 800,000 photos! My God...I didn't think there was any crime in NYC back in the early part of the 20th Century. Being somewhat into photography for a long time, I'm loving these photos. Especially the quality of a lot of them. Take a look at this site and when you can actually get on the official site, try to check out as many photos as you can. From what I've seen, these are fantastic! Never-before-seen photos from 100 years ago tell vivid story of gritty New York City
