So I guess I'm supposed to use this forum to introduce myself and explain why I am blessing you all with my presence I'm Aaron and I'm an 8 year officer for a police department in central California. At this point, I'm opting not to name the agency because I'm not exactly "out". That leads me to why I'm here. I'm hoping to meet fellow LEO who have been or are currently where I am so I can gain the confidence to finally be who I really am, rather than who this career says I'm supposed to be. I have absolutely no ties to any fellow gay LEO outside of my city, and I have never taken the initiative to do so (I guess because I have been too afraid). I say "outside of my city" because I am not aware of any others in my city or neighboring cities. It's not exactly a welcoming area for gays. So anyway, I guess that's kind of where I am in my life. I'm a 31 year old who's been in extreme denial my entire life, due to many circumstances. My career choice and area I live certainly did not assist in any way. So I'm hoping to meet new friends, especially who live in California, for support and guidance. And maybe some dating advice since I have no clue about that either Ok, that was a joke, so hopefully I don't get kicked off for some TOS violation! Also, I can't figure out how to apply a personal avatar. When I copy/paste the link, then update my profile, it just doesn't load. When I go back to edit, the link is gone. Nice to meet you all!

Hey Crzyax2, WELCOME! We hope you learn a LOT from our BluePride family. (And, don't worry about an avatar for now... I've been a member for years and still can't figure it out either.) We just had our annual LEGAL International Conference (Law Enforcement Gays and Lesbians) in Las Vegas. You would have been AMAZED at the LGBT LEOs who were there! We understand the reticence to be out at work and that is okay. For now, follow along. You will get to know us regulars and learn a lot! In the mean time, I'm kinda the Welcome Wagon, master baker of cookies for the BluePride break room. Share with us whatever you are comfortable in posting. It gets easier... and, hopefully, you will be amazed at just who might be in your PD. I remember YEARS ago when the Chief in San Fran said there were no gays in the SF PD . But, with the just-completed Conference, the Los Angeles Sheriff's Dept. sent FORTY LGBT LEOs. We're out there! GOOD to have you with us! Bear __________________

Welcome to Blue Pride! I hope you become a participating member here! Bear pretty much hit it on the head in his welcome. It's a good site and by being part of it you'll find that by interacting with the other members that it might make it easier to be who you really are at work. And you'll be more comfortable there. Get to know us with our humor, information, networking and shared experiences. Don't be afraid to ask for advice either. We have tons of it! And we all can use some from members as well. As far as TOS and avatars: We're all expected to abide by the TOS and all members should refamiliarize themselves with them periodically. It can never hurt. The guideline is basically PG13 as per the sites host. No porn, ever. Or other things that would be inappropriate. (See the TOS) Avatars: If you want to have your own avatar you need to host the photo at a site like TinyPic, Imageshack or one of the other photo hosting sites out there. Then copy and paste the URL (Example: here ) into the appropriate area within your Modify Profile area. It cannot be larger than 100X100 so make sure it is 100X100 or smaller than that. I think its great to have personal avatars. They give an insight into you. It's really not too difficult to do. (If I can do it, anyone can! ;D ) And don't hesitate to initiate topics relating to GLBT law enforcement as well as general law enforcement. That's what it's all about. I can't do all the heavy lifting around here! Anyway....welcome to Blue Pride!

Lately I have noticed several new members have joined the site...How about you guys or gals speak up and introduce yourselves?
It has been a little slow lately, so some new blood with new ideas and topics could be just the thing to get the keyboards warmed up again!
Our Admin (Almighty Ruler) does his best to keep things rolling, but I'm sure he wouldn't mind a little bit of reprieve in keeping the site interesting!

Thanks Dale! You don't know how much I appreciate what you've said here! We had a few people who applied for membership but in the vetting process were in reality, spammers...(eg: 18 year old "girls" from China, Viet Nam and other exotic areas.....No Good!) New members are reminded to introduce themselves, as always........

Aaron,
Welcome! I've been in law enforcement for about seven years and have many of the same feelings that you do, so I can empathize with what you've posted.

Welcome Aaron, Please make yourself at home here among your fellow Blue Pride brothers and sisters. I think all of us can relate to every feeling you expressed. I am also "not out" in general and definitely not at the PD. The guys even speak to me assuming I am straight, even though, I can't believe they really believe their assumption. Here you can meet fellow LE and related industry colleagues and feel relax to be yourself. No one here is going to pry or prey to "out" you or force to you come out. For me, that's a relief. Although, I do so appreciate knowing LE guys who are out and are thriving in their careers and lives. You can find inspiration, validation, and comfort that you are not alone and you are not some scandal ready to blow your department and your life wide open. So, secure that gun, get out of that uniform, get a cup of java, put on your flip flops, (notice I didn't mention of putting any clothing back on... oh oh.. I digress again.. . and chat away. Chat traffic can be slow, but like you, we are police officers and we don't always get to be in flip flop mode a lot. And yes, some of us don't wear clothes at home, YIKES.. But someone will always respond to your post. Welcome Buddy... Mac
