Hey Tommy, Hope things went well with the ENT reference the Tinnitus. I unfortunately have had Tinnitus for at least the last ten years. The ringing never really goes away, but you usually can block it out, though it does effect hearing quality. It makes dealing with crowded rooms more difficult in hearing the person you are conversing with clearly. Hope yours is temporary. I don't know what created mine, but I remember having it temporarily off and on even when I was in my teens.

The ENT doctor checked me out. He told me that there is a passage that connects the nasal area to the ear and that it is partially closed. He prescribed Flonase and saline, which I already had. It only exacerbated things. Maybe I used too much. Yesterday I had a hearing test. Apparently I lost some high frequency hearing in my left ear. It's probably temporary and will get better over time. The tinnitus is more pronounced since I was at the firing range. That too, will probably dissipate. Or not. At least I didn't do something like shatter my eardrum or do any serious damage that would cause me to have surgery or wear a hearing aid. That was my fear. It's just something that will have to take it's own time to get better. And I have to try to not use my left ear when I'm on the phone. For a while anyway. And when I was leaving the office the doctor said that I should come back in about a year for another test. So it's not like I have to return to him anytime soon. That's a good sign I think. I'll just see how things go.

WHEW! GOOD NEWS, Tommy... uh, mostly. A clogged eustachian tube can be miserable... and potentially painful (as well as causing "tin ear.") Hope the swelling calms down so it drains normally soon.
Nurse bear suggests you visit the BluePride break room, enjoy a couple cookies, have a cuppa coffee (we're now serving iced coffee too!) The chewing action, along with the Flonase, also "massages" the ear-nasal eustachian, helping it open up.
What the heck... have three cookies...

OOOOPS...
It was a REALLY BAD DAY, uh night, at San Diego Bay on the 4th. A technical glitch (somebody pushed the wrong button) resulted in...
ALL FOUR BARGES of fireworks - the entire program show - was set off simultaneously. Gives new meaning to "I hate it when that happens."

I have some high frequency loss which I hope will get better. Till then I guess I just have to deal with it. It's a good lesson to learn that when going to a firing range, be sure to wear protection for your ears and eyes and make sure they're worn properly. And make sure anyone else on the firing line is also wearing protection. This is annoying but I'll get used to it until it goes away.
As far as that fireworks show that went kablooey.....I'm glad I wasn't there!! ;D

From barges anchored in the Hudson River Macy's produces an annual Fourth of July fireworks display here in New York. Back in the days when we were young and gay...er...ah...well, you know...Steve and I would wend our way to the park along the riverbank and enjoy the view (now we curl up on the couch and watch it on TV). But I digress. The year was 1964. The display began as usual and then, about 10 minutes into the program, the skies lit up like Christmas. Everyone was oohing and ahhhhing. It was spectacular. Little did we know until we read it in the paper the next day... an accident occured and the entire stock of fireworks on one of the barges just blew up, killing 2 and seriously harming 4 others. I can't believe it has been 48 years since it happened. The picture is still fresh in my mind.

(Sigh) yes, I too recall when I was young and, uh, special. That was 1954. Actually, I now know I was special in 1944... and 19... well, you get the idea. I still have visual memory of about 1950 when I was at the lake property in Oklahoma with my mother and grandparents on the 4th. Those were magic times in the summer when I was safe... but it is now I who digress... Fireworks were being set off. Sparklers... fountains. And, I was given a Roman candle to shoot off over the lake. I recall it was a little scary but I did it. Then, my mother asked me a question. I turned around to answer her... just as the candle shot off a charge... which went up, came down on the roof of the cabin next to my grandparent's, and burned a hole through the roof, finally extinguishing on the floor. I could have burned down the whole thing!... or the whole ROW of cabins! Now, I get a little anxious lighting a match! I need a cookie. Bear _________________.

Yikes! A memory like that calls for a dozen cookies... full of chocolate chips! Psst....I'll join you. ;D (wagging his tail happily...) oh, I have no trouble remembering what happened on a particular morning in 1947. But, reading a schoolwork research article, making margin notes, re-reading it, reading the "conclusions" part and perusing the bibliography... then, the next day, trying to remember what the topic was, well, that is a different matter! It's that Senior CRS disease (sigh!) I'm finding I kinda like just being blissfully in a fog. PET the nice Bear. FEED the nice Bear. JOY is sharing chocolate chip cookies! Bear ___________________.

Wow. Sorry to hear about the bike and all the turmoil. I hope it was well insured because as we know, there's usually a slim to none chance of it being recovered. And if it is, it will probably be stripped bare. People suck sometimes.

Thanks, it was. To tell the truth I hope it is not recovered, I can't imagine what they did to it. Funny thing, low rear brake fluid, and pretty worn front tire. It was going in for service this week. I hope they don't get hurt and sue me.......

Are you saying that someone could steal your bike, get hurt while riding around on it, and then sue you for damages?

People have stolen things like cars and bikes, had accidents with them and then had the gall to sue the original owners. Sure. It happens. Sometimes they even win. This is what society is coming down to.

Should I post this in What Happened Good Today? A constable found my bike about two blocks South of where I parked it. We checked North. To the south was a major street, it would not have been easy to move it and they would have dropped it. Oops, thats just what they did, bend mirror, broke a brake lever and bent a foot peg. I have an idea some art vendors did it, they would have had a permit from the city. I will see if the permit designated them as parking enforcers too.
