How true. I should compile a list of those "members" and post it here. But I won't. It would take up too much space here.

Prydeguy you couldn't have said it any better. And most frustrating was the sense of entitlement that many of them had in wanting to hold the banner and lead the group. Or those who have walked with politicians away from the group instead of with the group. We must always remember that we are leaders of organizations who serve the organization, the organization should not serve us. Its safe to say that many of the current ills which face us stem from those in power who use their positions as a platform for personal advancement and personal agendas rather than taking an organization to a higher level.

In this civil rights struggle, 2% of us do 98% of the work. For me, It's a labor of love. I'm very proud to be in that 2%. I would not have it any other way.

Carroll,
You, good sir, have always gone beyond "committed". You have been, since I first met you in 1992, relentless in your efforts. Truth be told, the degree of your affirmation and actuation shames many, including myself, when it comes to being out in front and first on the "in your face" front-line action of making things better. Certainly there are, justly so, others to be commended, appreciated, acknowledged etc. (Charlie, T.J., Dave D'Amico, Gene Walsh, Tom Ryan and on ... ) .
But you, Carroll Hunter, have been relentless and inexhaustible regardless of time, place or persons be they pro or con. Take your place in the "Those Honored" in the 40th Anniversary of Stonewall roster. It is appropriate.[/b]

Thanks so very much for those kind words. The fact is, you are my brothers, you are my sisters and I love you. In this struggle we are joined at the hip. Our enemies are far too numerous to count. We must be there for each other. We must hold each other by the hand, protect each other and mentor our LGBT youth. No, I will not hide, I will not shut up, I will not go away. I will fight until the day I die to make a better life for all LGBT people everywhere. This struggle is not about me, It's about us.

Bogus is quite correct. Everybody knows that "Alice In wonderland", with the Mad Hatter, the talking rabbit, the Cheshire Cat,Tweedle dum and Tweedle dee, and assorted Blind Mice had a Tea Party at John Jay. I really don't see how anybody could take them seriously. After all, their whole existence is nothing more than a childrens story.

It is becoming more and more apparent that some of the groups around the country have or are losing the vision and focus that they were supposedly founded for. In some cases, some groups are nothing more than a sham, membership-wise. And some seem to be nothing more than a device for having these "underground" meetings where they feel comfortable meeting in the closet. Let's call it what it is. Some of these groups need to stop masquerading as viable, professional law enforcement groups and admit that they're nothing more than a conduit for gay closeted cops to get together, party and hide without actually advocating for the rights of their members. By the way, I'm not directing this at GOAL NY. Yes, they're a mess but this is not totally about them. And it's not directed at any one specific group. Unfortunately there are a growing number of them, it seems. They effectively wipe out all the work that has been done, in some cases by them and specifically by others who worked tirelessly to build solid viable law enforcement organizations. And that is a shame and shows a lack of backbone. It's so easy to take the low road and just go for the "social" and "underground" route. Some "leaders" should know better than to upholster the closet and make it desirable, which is what they seem to be doing. They cancel out any work they've done in the past, to make things better for GLBT Law Enforcement. If Charlie Cochrane wasn't cremated, he'd be rolling over in his grave. Things are going backwards fast.
