Before moving to Florida, I spent four years serving on the evecutive board of the Gay and Lesbian Community Services Center in New York. GOAL has been renting space there for many yerars. We, on the executive board, rely on the funds generated by tenants to help finance the activities of the center.
GOAL is very lucky that I am no longer on the Center Board. I would not have allowed them to go six months without paying their rent. After being delinquent for two or three months, I would have thrown them into the street. They have the nerve to say that they're putting on a "conference" next week, and they can't even pay their rent? give me a break!!!

For those of you who don't know, I am the past president of GOAL NY.\ ... GOAL NY was 6 months delinquent in paying its rent on its meeting space. Not only did they not change the contact information with the Center, but they are not paying their rent..... And they call this RESPONSIBLE LEADERSHIP! Another "Rid-Ex moment" - the toilet bowl has, once again, backed-up.
Is anyone really suprised?

Actually, Dave, THAT train went off the track in 2007 when George stepped down from the presidency. And why am I not surprised that GOAL NY hasn't paid its rent in six months? Isn't its current leader the same one who was responsible for, but didn't pick up the mail for such a long time in 2003 that the invoice for the Canal Street Station P.O. Box never got paid and we lost the mailing address we had had for over 20 years? ?!!!! The more things change, the more they stay the same. Yeah I thought it was 2009, I was going by the train pic... But you are right if all fell apart when George left. PO Box whats that???

Post Office Box. GOAL had a post office box for 23 years, that in 2006, was closed for failure to pay the rental on the po box. rather than informing the executive board of this, the person responsible for it had the mail forwarded to their home address. I only found out about that after I got a call telling me that a letter was returned to them saying GOAL NY did not still own that po box. I immediately got on a train, and got us a new box, the one still in use today at Old Chelsea Station.

Well, not really. It's such a shame that the incompetence that has overtaken the group is so prevalent. And even worse is that some people pretend that everything is alright and it's no big deal that everything seems to go wrong with that bunch. I never knew about the mail being redirected to a private house. THAT is shameful and willfully deceitful. And the latest news about the supposed "conference" is disheartening though not unexpected. Don't say you wazn't warned!

I do believe there is/are more than one ...
Can you guess who's who?
PURPOSES OF THE ORGANIZATION
The purposes for which this organization exists are as follows:
• to promote friendship and fraternity among its members;
•to inculcate in its members a high sense of loyalty and
•responsibility to each other and to law enforcement service;
• to motivate its members to achieve a higher degree of efficiency in the discharge of their duties;
• to impress its members with the principles of justice, equity and equality within the area of law enforcement;
• to promote and strive for a high level of diversity and inclusion of all people within the organization;
• to promote the interest and welfare of its members as law enforcement officers and criminal justice professionals and to advance the cause of equal treatment and opportunities for its members within the various agencies from which they are drawn in such areas as, but not limited to, appointments, assignments, promotions, retiree advocacy and employee benefits; and
• to support its members against any injustice or discriminatory action which they may encounter within the workplace or elsewhere. «
Oh please do tell who they are..... ;D

They've basically violated all of those purposes, many times over, in some cases.....

They've basically violated all of those purposes, many times over, in some cases..... As you might recall ...
"F^@k the law!" was the voiced opinioned by one young NYPD officer at a meeting during the "coups", and the mind-set of many at that meeting, and meetings shortly thereafter. The new generation's mind-set succeeded. The predicted disgracing of the organization also came to fruition. The organization is now in the toilet.
On June 28th, many may show up for the NYC Pride March in Class-A uniform and impress the public. But the stains the current administration have spewed upon on those who came before them and the work toward Gay rights that was strived for and accomplished at great cost, is shameful - so very shameful.

When I was president of GOAL, one thing that always pissed me off was how many officers, who never come to the meetings or contributed in any way to the organizaation would suddenly show up at the Pride Parade. Many of these people were not even dues paying members. You would see them only once a year when they would march proudly down Fifth Avenue to the cheers from the crowd. Then, they would vanish again until next year, when it was time to take another curtain call. They were the officers who never came to the fund raising events, they never came to the meetings, they never joind the committees, they never came to the conferences, they never paid their dues or voted in the elections. They never were available to do the hard work of advocating for our rights. They always let somebody else do the work, but once a year, they were always ready to march in the parade and take a bow. They were not participating, they were not watching the back door when the rats came up from the sewer to feed on the organization. In other words, they got the government they deserved.
