Our thoughts and prayers are with our friends and colleagues in Ottawa and in all of Canada. Let's hope this was a one time thing and isn't a harbinger of more to come there and elsewhere. Be vigilant.

We are nowhere close, but our building was locked down today, as were all Federal Buildings in Canada. I lived in Ottawa for 8 years, had to explain to people how close the locations of the events were to each other. My colleagues in Ottawa were sealed in a building. No one allowed to leave or enter. This tragedy affected the whole country. I suspect the next guy will be going to the flaming waters in Hell before he gets a chance to fire a weapon. Keep safe guys.

This latest incident, which has been determined to be an act of terrorism by the NYPD occurred not very far from where I live. Maybe about a mile and a half, two miles tops. An apparent "lone wolf" type attack which is what ISIS and similar groups are advocating. I heard the sirens almost constantly the other day as the hospital is close as well. As cryptically as I can be, I'll just say that "I will be prepared" for any eventuality. The young cop who got hit in the head with the axe is slowly recovering as well as can be expected but who knows how well he will be later. Another young rookie cop had his arm cut and was released from the hospital and is home recuperating. What has happened in Canada and in New York as well as isolated incidents around the country should make people think and face reality. "Be prepared" is all I can say right now.
