We'll have to start a new thread just for you. Bless me Father for I have sinned. Instead of Hail Mary's & Our Fathers there'll be cookies amounts as penance. Amen ... and speaking of cookies and the Pirates of Men's Pants, uh, Penzance, darn.. I mean penance...
THIS is FUN!

Congratulations, Bear, on your new designation, Doctor of Divinity! I'm sure you'll do it proud. These days, the latest gay trend (and it is a trend...a fad...) is to denigrate religion and people who have faith. I'm glad you've proved yourself better than them. We knew it all along though, didn't we? This calls for a truckload of Moose Drool and cookies!

THANK YOU, BluePride!
Full disclosure: my DD is an honorary degree. Therefore, I will not be using it on my personal or business cards. And, in fact, I am not a Christian, Jew, Muslim, Hindu, Sufi.... I am an all-inclusive Holistic Humanist. I have a strong spiritual component within me... but not in worship to any particular "deity." If anything, my "higher power" is, simply, LOVE.
HOWEVER - and this is important - in my work in the field of Thanatology, I learned long ago it is not about ME. It is about the clients I serve. What I appreciate about the granting of the DD it that it recognizes that I honor all belief and faith systems... or lack thereof, for agnostics and atheists. During a time of grief for a client, it is my job to honor, support and validate the client's belief system. To become knowledgeable with at least the basics to cover many belief systems took a lot of work. Thus, the DD is a smile in my direction that I do try to be supportive toward recognition of ALL differences.
So, YEAH, hot-from-the-oven cookies coming up! ... and, because we like to have a little class, the Moose Drool Ale will be served in frosty-cold Nonick Pint glassware!
Hugs to ALL, Bear __________________________.
