Bear, Bear, Bear....
I turn my back for a second..and mayhem....
I am truly sadden to hear of your misfortune. I am glad you are safe but safety always leaves you to deal with the mess...
But that's ok... You're still here... and that means the world is still a better place. I agree that you must take it slow. One day at a time. In the serenity of the clam, your thoughts can find the path to recovery. Remember, my friend, tomorrow is always different than yesterday and if anyone can appreciate that challenge, it's you.
As you know I am an old Catholic school boy gone bad (grin) then gone back for repentance, then gone bad again.. then gone back... well, you get the picture...
I hope you don't mind that I will keep you in my prayers.
Be Not Afraid ....

Uh-oh.......my trusty old computer which I bought in 2004 is acting up and showing signs of old age. I'm in the process of backing up photos, documents, music and everything else off my hard drive. Thank my lucky stars I have an external hard drive as well. I'm hoping my PC doesn't take it's last breath before I finish backing up. Meanwhile, I'm trying to use my laptop even though it takes forever to boot up. If I'm a bit scarce in the next few days, it's because of this. As if I really need this aggravation, what with my car being in the car hospital and stuff!!! Oh well, what can you do? ;D

BP,
Word to the wise...I've had hard drives and operating systems crash on me before. Most times if it is just your operating system you'll still be able to retrieve your photos and important documents.
Good luck. I suggest getting a new computer...stay away from Dell...

I have to say I'm almost sorry I started this thread. It sure has been given a workout in the last week or so, hasn't it? But at the same time, not everything is always going to be rosey-peachy-keen either. It's reality, I guess. This hits home because I know the guy. As yet, he still hasn't been found. At least his 5 year old son is safe and sound. I've been in contact with a bunch of old co-workers and we're basically doing a living vigil until he's recovered. Because it's almost 24 hours since the incident and I think there's no hope of finding him alive. A very nice, decent, unassuming guy. I knew him since he was a rookie. Very sad. Kayak cop search - Missing after son rescued**Update*** A few minutes afer I posted I heard a news report that his body was recovered. RIP,Pat.

My poor car is still in the body shop. I got a rental but I may return it. It's a humongous white so-called mini van. It's gigantic and I feel like I'm driving a battleship. It is pretty frustrating to wait for my poor pristine car to be fixed. I hope it looks exactly the way it did before the hailstorm. Someone told me it looked as if Rosie O'Donnell did a Mexican Hat Dance on it while wearing spiked heels. After trying to visualize that I was near tears!

Okay, I've had probably one of the most sh*tty weeks at work. Why you ask??
I'm getting yelled at for sitting in a chair...
Yes, sitting in a chair...Although in my own defense my employee was in the other chair at the front desk where the receptionist and the security share the space. Instead of sitting in his lap I decided to be professional and sit in the chair. I adjusted it so I would be comfortable.
This single chair has raised SO much drama it is ridiculous. At the front desk there are two chairs, up until three days ago they were the same. The receptionist sniped that "The security guards keep switching my chair around." Then she gets this fancy new chair and I use it during the middle of the night when no one is here except for my other employee...yeah...she just can't be pleased....I'll leave my nice comments to myself...
SIGH!!!!... This is WHY I don't like the corporate world. I don't know how many times I have over heard employees bickering about what chair they should get and where they get to sit... REALLY, it's all really small and petty in comparison to the grand scheme of things. There was even one employee who was telling me how he has not gotten a raise on SO LONG and how he needs to make more than 50k a year. Understandably so, but he wasn't speaking to the right person, in fact he was talking to a guy who is grateful to barely scrape by with what little he makes....
ANYWAYS, on to the silver lining of this all. I am now looking at local universities. I have my eye on a private university that has a Metro-Urban Studies B.S. program that interests me because it involves many study abroad programs and it has a Masters Degree in Leadership program that I think I might take up before I leave academia. Meanwhile, I could live on campus, accrue debt like nothing else and not have to work full time. Maybe I could even have a life.
BEST of all, I can sit in any damn chair I wish!!

Look at the bright side....you got to sit in a chair! I stood for 6 hours on hard concrete the other night. My dogs are still barking at me!!

6, that's it?? We have one national account where we are required to stand around a retail store for ten hours to "deter" theft. Yeah...rent a cops can't do much and for good reason may I add.
I'm looking forward to finding out more about the university, I hope I can afford it!

I also forgot to mention my knack of finding bad jobs and getting frustrated to the point that I am forced to look for ways to improve my situation.
I originally planned not to go to college. I was eight months finished with high school when I had a very miserable day at work, which was a pizza joint then. Got home, talked to friends and family when the thought came to my head "Gee, I don't think I can take this forever, what can I do to change it?"
The next afternoon I signed up for school and started classes the next week.
I now find myself in a similar situation where I am fed up with work, getting tired of the same old song and dance and I am determined to make a change for the better in my life. This time I though I want to focus SOLEY on school compared to several years ago where I barely wanted thing one to do with school because I hated the factory SO much.
This video really says what I think about the factory schools. Not every one thinks alike, progresses at the same rate nor do they learn alike. Schools today, more or less, are concerned with pleasing parents and churning out "child prodigies." This is why I like college, the focus is on the student learning, not the results. Not to mention that teachers are less regimented by state and local regulations and are not expected to report to parents.

What bad happened today is that numerous Police Officers have been injured by pukes from OWS. Lacerations due to thrown glass at the cops. Liquid thrown at cop's eyes (probably vinegar, not known yet). And a lot of restraint by the cops. Although force by the OWS jerks was met with justified force by the Police. Why anyone would take some dirty, smelly, matted haired, dreadlocked hipster seriously is beyond me. They think for some ungodly reason that they're making a difference. They're not. They've done nothing in their lives and fail to take any responsibility for their own lives. They just want to take and never give. I got a student loan and I agreed to it's terms beforehand. And I paid it off like a responsible citizen. By working. And by the way, I partied at college and didn't concentrate on my studies. I admit that. And I regret it. But I still made something of myself. (Debatable, I know... ) And among the numerous things these morons are "demanding" is forgiveness of student loans that they freely entered into. What a bunch of self absorbed, entitled pricks. Them and their supporters. All of them. And in the situation in D.C. where that guy fired shots at the White House. I'm glad he was caught and that the President, his wife and his 2 young daughters were not there. And I'm glad that no White House staffers got hurt. The shooter is being charged with attempted assassination of the President. Thank God. Doesn't matter if he was there or in Australia. The fact that you fire a gun at the White House tells me you're trying to shoot the President. And shame on the idiots in San Diego ( Occupy Dan Diego) who held a moment of silence in solidarity with the shooter. This is what it's come down to, folks. Our country is f*cked. Sometimes I wish I could live on another planet. I had to vent and get that off my chest. It's been festering for a while. And I haven't even scratched the surface of what I want to say.
