Has anyone else noticed that Cooper is the name of gay cops in both SouthLAnd and the Cold Case episode "Forever Blue"? Coincidence, or just a SouthLAnd writer that was paying attention? BTW, the guy that plays young Cooper in Forever Blue is @#&^*&% hot!!!!!!

My darlings, I just don't know, Perhaps It's me. But in all honesty, I don't see anything sexy about cops. I watch the cop shows because they have good plots and interesting characters. They really capture the criminal personalities and the nitty gritty of being on the job. But, as hard as I try, I just don't see sexy !!!! I guess I've been in ths business so long, show me a man in a uniform and I want to puke. I really think that jackets and ties are much more sexy.

Just wait until you see me at the Flamingo Resort in St. Pete for the annual gathering of Florida LEGAL in June. I'll be the furry one by the pool, wearing my micro-mini Speedo. WhooHoo... talk about sexy! Hunkus Maximus (Bear) _______________________

Carroll,
You do have a point, real men in uniform...I could take them or leave them.
Here is the thing with the gay cop characters. THEY AREN'T REAL COPS!! They are actors, it is the actors that we are falling in love with not the cop. That and cannot we be allowed to dream and drool over men who have a similar fascination with handcuffs, or at least those who act like they do?

Well now, I can provide some insight on this topic, After all, I've got one foot in the civilian world the other in the Law Enforcement world. I personally, never had a "thing" for cops. I have sometimes have noticed that I really, really, really like men, go figure. ;D Most cops are men, mmmmm following me here... ;D We all have our fantasies, dreams, and just plain ole "damm he's hot", " moments. We know there are women and men alike, straight and gay, who are attracted to police officers. And, Yes, most times, people who have this attraction are really attracted to the image of the masculine persona of a police officer, the "man in uniform", devoided of relating to the man who is wearing the uniform. But, we also know there are police officers who will take advantage of the availability of such adoration for what it provides. I don't think there is one officer that's been with a badge bunny or badge buddy who believes or feels there's been a real positive emotional connection. As a gay man who like other masculine appearing men, the thought of a Marine, a Police Officer, a Firefighter is like.. But what reality brings, is, well, REALITY... there's a man behind that uniform and he may not be the man your fantasy has built. The masculine persona that attracts may be ithe very thing that turns you off. A fantasy is a fantasy; usually always pleasurable and good but mostly, unreal, but a man is a man, and every bit of him will always be real, the good and the bad. As a police officer, I am proud to wear the badge. When I see another officer in uniform, I get excited. Not that I want to rush up and flirt or jump on his bones, but I get excited because I see what I think is a man who is doing his best to make a dfference. And I still want to be that type of man. I want to be like him, be among men like him, be considered to be a man like him. Now, if I get to know him aside from our professional interaction, and he has a deep voice, handsome pretty eyes, likes baseball as much as Hello Dolly (hey, don't even try, I know you guys are out there.... ;D ) then, we can talk. Oh yeah, if he looks good in jockstrap as much he does in his uniform as much as he does in a tux, that's a plus too. Ok, I like men; most cops are men.. where did I hear that one? : ;D Be Safe! Mac

Yeah, I like hot men, uniform or not. There are lots of hot men that are cops, or firemen, or military, or emts, or etc. I like men with honor, integrity, courage, heart, and athletecism. Those traits are often found in the same professions. A guy just being a cop isn't going to cut it for me. But if a guy is hot, it sure doesn't hurt. Now hot or not, I would draw the line to exclude anyone from my own dept. That is just a recipe for disaster, even if the guy is godly hot.

Is that a challenge good sir?? I'll have you know I am quite the formidable opponent. Every where I go people stare as I pass, they stand in their spots, STUNNED, by my sheer awesomeness, and I am only talking about my looks.

Geez the screen is alive emocons!!
I like Southland, it shares a dark place, with The Wire and The Shield. I can honestly say I am not gaga over anyone in the second two, but there are a couple in Southland.
I like men, particularly the ones in uniform, I think I can get past the first level of compliance to try and try to connect with the man in there. my Dad was in the Navy, grew up on bases, met a lot of uniformed sailors, I think I developed my crush then. I live in a Prairie town, the closest thing to military are Police and Firefighters, sorry EMT's something about you know in in detail the physiology of why I have a hard-on is scary. I work with a firefighter that uses the gear to attract the ladies. I think he is homophobic, will find out soon, I guess.
Anyway - two thumbs up for Southland. Season 4 starts soon!

I loved The Wire. It was one of the most realistic police shows I've ever seen. Even if it was in a city I'm not really too familiar with. I saw a lot of New York in it. The Shield was a show I tried to get into but I just couldn't. Who knows why? And I've only seen a couple of episodes of Southland.
There were a lot of police shows I never saw until after I retired. Like NYPD Blue. I mean why watch it when I was living it??!! When I was younger, 20's and teens, I watched a lot of cop shows. I did watch Hill Street Blues in the early 80's cause I was a hot blooded rookie and couldn't get enough of cop shows till I got my feet wet on the job.
