What I know about baseball could fit on the head of a pin. But, at least he guys are cute!!! Yes Carroll, I think I could handle dating a nice Major Leaguer! Oh, and I was SOOOOO happy to see that Jeff Samardijza got his first MLB save for the Cubs yesterday!. Gotta love the Notre Dame football player making a name for himself in MLB.

My Goodbye to Shea Stadium Shea Stadium has been like an old lover who broke your heart a thousand times but that you always crawled back to in the hopes of getting a little love back. And of course, it doled out a little love now and then and made us feel like we were on Cloud 9. Now, what’s left of Shea stands there like a helpless, once great warrior now mortally wounded. Looking at it, it sent me two messages: 1) “I’m hurt and dying. Please help me”. And 2) “I don’t want you to see me like this. You should go and just leave me here to die”. I don’t know who felt worse, me or Shea’s remains. After my camera batteries finally died it was time to go. I took a couple of hundred pictures. As I sat in my car collecting myself and getting warm, a song came on my I-pod. As I listened I realized it was me saying my goodbye to Shea Stadium for the last time. I was astounded listening to it.

Amazing (like in the Amazing Mets??)
The Roman Colosseum was inaugurated in 80 A.D. Gladiator fights were outlawed in 438 A.D. and the last animal show was in 523 A.D. One wall was subsequently destroyed in a major earthquake but still, 1,928 years after it was built it still stands!
Shea Stadium opened the same year as New York City's (second) World's Fair - 1964. Forty-four years and it's considered "inadequate" and needs replacement. Forty-four years! Amazing! Guess they don't build 'em like they used to (or maybe someone wasn't getting paid off under the table back in the good old Roman days).

I'm surprised you Met-heads aren't salivating and gushing over the news about A-Roid. This one bothers me. Not because he's a yankee (they suck), but because he supposedly had a chance to take back home run records "cleanly." I'm afraid to hear who the other 103 are.

How many Gladiator fights did you attend at the Roman Colosseum? As far as A-Rod......at this point I'm not surprised by anything when it comes to him. A liar, a cheater, a fraud, etc., etc.,.....The thing is though.......he was only one of 103 who failed the drug tests in 2003. I'm interested to see who else is on the list. These days I'd be more surprised to see who wasn't on juice a few years ago. He's going to have a hell of a season this year, what with all the booing and cat-calls he's going to have to endure all over the country. His "apology" seemed forced and I'm sure he even lied during it. A-Fraud, indeed. Well, he's on the perfect team anyway.....A-Rod, Giambi, Sheffield, Kevin Brown, Petitte, Clemens, Stanton...let's see...who am I leaving out? Probably a lot. The New York Yank-oids! Well, at least he can always run to Madonna for some comfort after enduring the boo's this season. That is, if she's not cruising Avenue D on the lower east side of Manhattan like she used to. Picking up teenaged Puerto Rican boys and blowing them in the back of her stretch limo! Alex has made some great choices, hasn't he??

Hey I heard A-Rod is already history as far asMadonna is concerned. Guess she doesn't like to many repeats in the back of her stretch.

I thought I'd never return to the construction (or destruction) site but on the spur of the moment, I returned today. These photos were taken about an hour ago. I really think it will be gone tomorrow, weather permitting.

[glow=blue,2,300]Shea Stadium Is Dead, Long Live Citi Field![/glow] I went to a workout session for the NY Mets yesterday morning and visited the newly opened CitiField for the first time. What an awesome place! The few photos I'm posting don't do it justice. I'd need a bunch more visits to really experience the whole place. But I'm telling you it's state of the art! Just a few photos that I took: This is right inside the main entrance, the Jackie Robinson Rotunda Members of the team during their loosening up session The NY Skyline from the old scoreboard from Shea Stadium. Refurbished and cleaned up, it highlights the American flag over the World Trade Center. I'm glad they kept this. A view from the left field side. X marks my seats. Johan Santana being interviewed on the field View from my seat Along the walls of the Rotunda are tiled photos of Jackie Robinson's life and legacy Jackie outside the old Ebbetts Field, which CitiField is modelled after Jackie and his wife Rachel in DC. She's just as gorgeous now, in her 80's, as she was back then

I'm just wondering if I will be able to make a Rays game while I'm in Florida the next couple weeks. At least they are a playoff worthy team.....

You should definitely try to see a Rays game if you're going to be in the area. They're definitely a threat this year and you know how good they were last year. This is a video from the Night Out At The Nationals which was held recently. I wonder if any of our Blue Pride members were in attendance?? The only thing better about this video would've been an interview with one of the players!!
