it's not a done deal yet. We have to get the matriarchs (they're sisters) of the family to agree to pull up the support hose, pack the depends, and sit on top of that truck, a la Beverly Hillbilies hehe and travel from dallas and SA to meet in houston. But it's looking good. The games are in July.. so I have time work on it.
I'll keep you posted...

I went to the Reds/Phillies game Saturday night in Cincy with a few guys from work. At one point, the Phillies has guys on first and second. So the next guy steps up to the plate and I say to the people around me, "Triple play right here." Sure enough, the next pitch, and the guy hits a grounder down the third base line. Out at third, out at second, out at first. Triple play! Many people do not ever get to actually witness a MLB triple play. How many not only see one, but actually call it before it happens? That was really cool.

Wow! You were actually at that game! I wish I knew that beforehand because I watched a few minutes of it. I would've looked for you! I have the "Extra Innings" package where I can watch games from all over the country. I had heard about the triple play. ha ha...The Phillies have no luck so far this season ;D..... They're "the team to beat", don't cha know! Well, everyone is beating them!!! A triple play is a rarity these days. And last night at the Red Sox vs. Yankees game in Boston, The Sox hit 4 home runs in a row, off the same pitcher!!!!!! That NEVER happens! I believe they said it was the first time that happened since 1963!!! And when it happened in 1963, Boston Manager Terry Francona's father, Tito Francona was one of the players who hit one of the 4 home runs in '63! Personally, I was glad the Red Sox swept the Skankees!!! What a game!!

I was trying to figure out why Torres left the pitcher in the game after the first homer, let alone letting him finish the inning and giving away three more homers. WHAT WAS HE THINKING? WAS HE THINKING?

Speaking of the Mets....(we were, weren't we?)..I went to my first game of the season this past Monday night for a game against the Colorado Rockies. I brought my trusty little camera with me because I wanted to document some of the last two years of Shea Stadium before it is torn down. The new park is scheduled to open for the 2009 season and in just a few short months, there has been a lot of progress, construction wise. The Mets won the game by the way.

Are they building the new stadium in the area next to Shea where all the chop shops used to be?

The new stadium is actually just a couple of feet away from Shea. I can literally stand with one foot on Shea and the other on the new Citi Field. Well...maybe not me....but you probably could! They are so close to each other that it's frightening! I plan on bringing my camera to most of the games I go to this year. At last night's game , which I went to, I didn't bring it but I'll be bringing it in the future. Last night's game sucked horribly, by the way. As far as the chop shops, yes they're going to be gone, as well as a lot of other things in the immediate area. Damn, the auto glass places there were where I go when I need a window replaced in my car! What am I going to do??? Apparently, the neighborhood people and businesses are rising up against the new stadium and the changes it will bring. By coincidence, there's a story in one of the local rags today about this very subject. Link: WILLETS POINT'S LAST MAN STANDING DEFIANTLY

Well if that doesn't sound slightly familiar. But in the case of DC, our new ball stadium here is being errected on the bones of several gay bars, a bath house, and a video/slash play area. These were the gay bars that had grandfathered licenses allowig totally nude dancing by performers.
So far none of them have been able to reopen anywhere. There have been a coule of attempts to do so, but the Area Neighborhood Commissions (ANCshave raised a stink about having Gay businesses in their areas. Of course officially they base their objection on some other excuse, but it's because they are Gay oriented.

I remember when that controversy erupted last year. If the attempts to reopen the gay establishments are meeting so much opposition, no matter how they mask it, maybe gays should not patronize the businesses in the area where the opposition is strongest. Hit 'em in the pocket. We have power that people don't think we have. They should be taught a financial lesson.

Nice idea, but the areas they're interested in are marginal, and there aren't any businesses there to be patronized.
