Edmonton and Bear, I never really think about the fact that I was lucky enough to be from New York city. We always had a large gay community there even before stonewall. Finding other gay people was never a problem for me as a young adult. There were countless bars and gathering places for gays. What stonewall did was politicize the community and that was a good thing. Stonewall promoted the creation of gay organizations that took our focus away from the bar scene toward positive community development. The gay organizations for youth, senior citizens, HIV/AIDS issues, counseling, and assorted human service programs enrich the support systems available to our community. We are now much more than bars. In order for gay people to have fulfilling lives, we have to put ourselves where these services are. OR, we have to create them ourselves. Edmonton, the next time you go to Vancouver, stay there for a few days and go down to the LGBT Community Services Center. Find out about their programs, volunteer and get involved. You need the community and it needs you.

So. This is what's going on at the Union. I wasn't supposed to win. At first the reaction was shock. Then as it settled in, the next reaction was to make me quit. I was getting all kinds of 'what's taking so long' over Xmas. One person who has a problem with how special assignments are assigned asked for an undated on issue after 2 days. I didn't forget about her, but could not get an answer - Xmas leave. Anyway, soon as Xmas was over, I had an Executive meeting and then yesterday a meeting with Boss. I determined that the process, which was faulty has improved. Today she tore into me. Really tore into me. She insulted me etc. so I made I mistake, I spoke to her at her desk. Next time a conference room. If anything she did help though, other executives have been broken in by her. They came to my side. These are people who wanted me gone at start of day. Silver linings. Now I have to apologize to the member. Thing is, if she has a problem - she is supposed to discuss with her manager. If there is a grievance issue, then union. Btw her complaint involves one on Executive and a shop steward. So I have to walk on egg shells handling it - privacy.

Update, the women decided I should apologize. I went in the next day and was going to do that, but the lady had a moment of inspiration and wrote me a letter telling me how she really felt. I filed it. Turns out her issues are already being investigated in a grievance at Second Level (corporate). No one told me about this, if I went nosing around I could have screwed it up. Sometimes I wonder what makes people tick.

OH MY GOD !! I don't know what's going on. I have not seen Tick Tock on a long time. I don't know where he is or what happened to him. I hope he didn't get hurt or killed somewhere. He's such a beautiful animal, I hope he comes home soon.

This is all very curious. Did we ever determine if Tick Tock is a he-gator or a she-gator? ... and could Tick Tock be on mater/pater-nity leave? ... and what about the genuine imitation boots/handbag/make-up kit?

A whole country is feeling this right now. In my dealings with enforcement agencies across the country, we are one. Thanks to our US partners.

We have controversy too in this age of mini electronics. This blogger hit the nail on the head.

Hearing that an arrest was made for the murders of our colleagues in Moncton. At least we have that but it will not bring them back. Hoping for complete recoveries for the injured officers involved. You are all in our thoughts.

Careful out there, all of you. While reading twitter posts on the Moncton RCMP shootings I ran across some disturbing stuff. A group was advocating for this kind of event. I am sure our guys picked it up. But now Las Vegas has occurred and they echo the info.
