OK Tommy, a question...who has the best record in baseball for the current year? It's not the Mets! (for sure)
The Tampa Bay Rays! (of course....at least for the moment.....hopefully longer.......if we don't screw up.....)
Although tomorrow we go up against the Yankees again....uh oh.

The Rays have been tearing it up all season. Let's hope they crush the Yankees the next couple of days. And yes....uh...the Mets.... Boy oh boy......after watching them lately I can understand why people get into self-mutilation. It hurts to be a fan but what can I do? I have to live with it. I can't be a front runner and just jump ship. If they're planning to fire Jerry, why don't they just do it and get it over with? The organization and Omar are the worst when it comes to running the club. A new broom sweeps clean.

I guess my squad is catching the fever...Starting Monday they want to start having softball practices and try to line up some games between other Agencies, MEO, State Attorney, etc. I played on a gay softball league one season. I was usually right field or catcher (get the idea I wasn't the MVP?) There are 18 of us in Homicide, so I think I might just stay as moral support or refreshment director and let the better, younger players represent us!

Hey Tommy, If you haven't noticed, the Rays aren't doing so hot either right now. But hey, it's still very early in the season.

Yeah...the Rays will improve though. Even though I'm not a big Johnny Damon fan, he seems to be a good pickup. And Price will have a nice year. Too bad about Manny though. What a maroon!!
But for some teams, as Casey Stengel said, "It's getting late early around here"!

I have to say I'm pretty distraught right now over Gary Carter's passing. It wasn't unexpected but it's still hitting me pretty hard. It was an honor working with him during the 2009 season when he managed the team I've been working for since 2004. Always a gentleman to me. Called me "Sir". Me. Who the hell am I? He fought a hard battle against the brain cancer that he was diagnosed with in May, 2011. f*ck you, cancer. You've done it again.
At least his last appearance two weeks ago was something he loved to do. Even though he was showing the ravages of his treatments. Rest In Peace, Gary.

Out at the Ballgame Time flies as enthusiastically as those errant fly balls, meaning it's time once again for Team DC's Night Out at the Nationals. In its eighth year, the annual outing sees thousands of LGBT and allied baseball fans heading to Nationals Park to enjoy a game en masse. To add to the excitement, D.C.'s Different Drummers will perform in the stadium's plaza, and the Gay Men's Chorus of Washington, D.C., will sing the national anthem. ''The Gay Men's Chorus of Washington is getting the Team Spirit Award from the Washington Nationals,'' says Brent Minor, executive director of Team DC, the umbrella organization for the area's LGBT athletic organizations with a mission of dispelling discrimination against LGBT people and encouraging their participation in sports. ''I'm not exaggerating when I say, without question, the Nationals look forward to the Gay Men's Chorus singing every year. They are a favorite of the Nationals. It's their seventh year.'' The chorus is also a favorite of those rooting in the stands. Another special guest participating in the pre-game festivities sure to get cheers is Lt. Brett Parson**, the Metropolitan Police Department's highest-profile gay officer and the former head of MPD's Gay and Lesbian Liaison Unit. Team DC also confirmed June 13 that Benjamin Jealous, president and CEO of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), which recently endorsed marriage equality, will attend as a guest of the Night Out event, adding some national prestige. Read article: Out at the Ballgame** Brett is a member here and has been a guest on Blue Pride Radio a few times!
